My Approach

Humanistic Therapy
Humanistic therapy comes from the personal growth movement. This approach encourages people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions.

Emphasis is on self-development and achieving one’s potential. I work in a client-centred or non-directive way looking at you, the client, as a whole person, and if appropriate will invite you to use your creative instincts to explore and resolve personal issues.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour.

By exploring significant childhood relationships, we can see the impact they have on your present relationships. We can start to make sense of how unprocessed negative feelings from an earlier relationship may have been projected onto current relationships and are causing you to remain stuck in old attachment patterns.

Sometimes it is helpful to explore how patterns of thinking can impact negatively on emotions and behaviour, preventing us moving forward. Other times relaxation techniques or creative work is most relevant. We decide together what is most appropriate for you.
